--Happy Snow Season in Bird’s Nest Open to Public

On 19 December 2009, the Bird’s Nest saw the opening of the first Happy Snow Season amidst all guests and friends. In the first week of test operation, the Bird’s Nest received Beijing citizens and tourists around the world, hopefully with more skiers to come in the coming weeks.

Through comprehensive testing and adjustment, the Happy Snow Season was fully open for business on 28 December 2009. The long expected 10-meter high platform opened to the public, much to the delight of ski jumping lovers.

Entering the warm-up field, you will find a splendid ski run at the east of the landscape avenue of the Central Area of Beijing Olympic Park. The ski run of 10 meters high, 100 meters long with slope gradient of about 10 degrees, is equivalent to the beginner’s level. The magic carpet installed on the east side of the ski run can transport skiers to the top of the runs with ease. Both the design and quality of the ski run reflect the top level of the Happy Snow Season. In order to provide the tourists with high level service, the sponsors purchased 500 sets of imported snow boards, snowshoes, ski sticks and 300 sets of ski clothes and gloves for rent. Compared to other ski fields, Bird’s Nest offers quite favorable renting fee for ski equipments: 80 RMB for 2-hour rent of snow boards, shoes and sticks, with 40 RMB for every extra hour. In addition, safety facilities were set up at the high platform and the resting areas. 30 qualified coaches are on the spot to teach beginners the basic skills of skiing. Visitors will enjoy themselves fully and feel relaxed in the Bird’s Nest.

As a way to show sincerity for visitors’ support, on 31 December 2009, upcoming friends to the Happy Snow Season in the Bird’s Nest will be invited to take part in all kinds of activities including the 10-mter ski jump, snow motor, outdoor snow games show “Out to Win”, snowfield happy ball, snowfield Frisbee, etc. They will also watch the field recording of New Year Party in the Bird’s Nest by Beijing TV Station. Famous singers including Wei Wei, the pair of Shuimu Nianhua, Chinese rock band Black Panther and Feng Yun Band will play skiing with the audience and entertain the audience with hot music and dances. Audience will also have the chance to interact with the artists and get a surprise. On 31 December 2009, with a single Happy Snow Season ticket, visitors can enjoy themselves in the Bird’s Nest for a whole day, skiing, listening to music, taking part in lucky draws, and enjoy the New Year Party in Bird’s Nest for free. As the last day of the year approaching, all the visitors are warmly welcomed to join in this festive occasion with stars.

The Happy Snow Season will last from 19 December 2009 to 20 February 2010. After the testing period, the opening hour will be 9:00-17:00. Opening hour on January 1 and during the Spring Festivals will be 9:00-18:00. Opening hours may be subject to change due to weather conditions.
