On 19 December 2009, the first Snow Season in the Bird’s Nest starts its operation, welcoming tourists from home and abroad to get together in the snow center this winter for skiing, playing or simply enjoying the snow scene.

The first Snow Season in the Bird’s Nest was jointly held by National Stadium Co., Ltd, BTV Sports Channel and International Sports Co.,Ltd. Drawing successful experience of wintertime stadium operation from other countries, the sponsors launched a 2-month program “Happy Snow Season in Bird’s Nest” on the playfield covering an area of 57,000 square meters with a main skiing field and a warm-up field. This is the largest snow sports center in Beijing where Beijingers and tourists from home and abroad can take part in fitness exercise this winter. Meanwhile, during the New Year, the Spring Festival and the 21th Winter Olympics, a variety of theme activities and performances will be held amidst festivity in the snow world of the Bird’s Nest. These activities are part of the efforts to develop the city of Beijing into an international sports center in the Post-Olympic era. It is in line with the industrial pattern of sports and cultural creativity in Beijing, as well as the innovation spirit in the development and application of Olympic venues.

As the slogan goes: “Getting Together in Happy Snow Season in Bird’s Nest”. The Bird’s Nest, where great events such as the Italian Super Cup and Race of Champions have been held, will present to the tourists and sports fans a great snow world for winter sports. BTV Sports Channel, the sponsor for the first Beijing Beach Carnival successfully held in August this year, will continue to provide live broadcast, news coverage and production of large-scale outdoor snow game show for the activities in the Bird’s Nest. International Sports Co.,Ltd has rich experience in the organization of large-scale events such as Snooker China Open, Europe & Asia Table Tennis Championship and National Swimming Championship. Therefore, the joint sponsorship will make use of their respective advantageous resources and work together to put forward “Happy Snow Season in Bird’s Nest” under the theme of “Heaven, Earth and Human”.

Heaven: the brilliant spectacle in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games deeply impressed people all over the world. On the spot of Happy Snow Season in the Bird’s Nest, the magnificent snow-mountain-like stage of 20.08 meters wide and the large LED screen with high-tech lighting effects will turn the Bird’s Nest into a wonderland again.

Earth refers to the ground from the grandstand to the playfield. During the Happy Snow Season, all kinds of facilities will be installed in the main field and warm-up field, including slide way, free skiing stand of nearly 10 meters high, ice and snow garden decorated with green plants and snow sculptures and animal houses of easy access. The snow world is divided into more than ten domains that will impress the visitors with distinctive features and designs.

Human: In the ice and snow world, how can the visitors enjoy a truly interactive experience? Happy Snow Season in the Bird’s Nest will be a rewarding trip. People will converge on the Bird’s Nest to join in a series of activities such as the Snow World Gala Night and the New Year Countdown. The Bird’s Nest will also be the setting for a large-scale outdoor snow games show “Out to Win” produced by BTV. All the visitors will have the opportunity to be the winner of the games and show themselves in front of the camera. The program called Nationwide Fitness Arena, to be broadcasted over TV, will welcome all the visitors to have a go in a variety of sports games including football, rope skipping, tug-of-war, push-up, etc. Simple as they seem to be, great joy you will find out there!
