As the initial activity of “The Bird’s Nest Summer Concert”, “Charm of China” was a world class production that boasts itself as a Chinese cultural brand. The organizer endeavors to promote Chinese culture and music to the world while producing world class stadium concert. Different from traditional European concerts, Charm of China is an outdoor music gala with modern features of China. It serves as a superb international platform for Chinese traditional music.

Bird’s Nest turns into world’s largest music palace

The Bird’s Nest is a miracle. In the post-Olympic period, much expectation has been put on the Bird’s Nest by people at home and abroad. Today, new miracles are to be witnessed here, and the best way to achieve that is to integrate culture into the Bird’s Nest, the focus of world attention. Song Zuying joins hands with Domingo, Jay Chou and Lang Lang

As one of the best-known Chinese folk song singer, Song Zuying, alongside her special guests including Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, Chinese pop singer Jay Chou and Chinese pianist Lang Lang, will impress the audience with the power of music and culture that can warm the world. The star-studded show will open a new chapter for the internationalization of Chinese folk music with distinctive features.

Much to the delight of the audience, the long-awaited Charm of China will feature western and Chinese music and combine elements of traditional Chinese music with modern pop, classical piano with Chinese folk songs and western vocal arts with Chinese folk songs. Undoubtedly, this unprecedented feast will lead the audience to embark on a wonderful journey into the music and the soul and be viewed as a top level performance of great beauty and harmony.

Joint performance by three top Chinese orchestras

Charm of China 2009 will be the first time for joint performance by three top-level Chinese orchestras, namely China Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Yu Long, Music Director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra will serve as the conductor of the concert. The joint performance will be the best of its kind for Chinese symphony and present to the audience a grand music gala.

Highlighting classic Chinese folk songs

Charm of China will highlight classic Chinese folk songs from different ethnic groups programmed with deliberate design. Each of the songs is like a shining pearl exquisitely produced and artfully connected to each other to provide a wholistic and artistic enjoyment.
